Trails and Tails In Caryl Park by James Mazza

Last Sunday had me darting between Dedham, MA and Warwick RI as I coordinated with two couples to capture their unique love. Lena, Justin and four of their furry friends took to the trails of Caryl Park to play in the wonderful autumn morning. Turning the heads of hikers and canines, they were instant celebrities. With strangers wanting to meet the well-behaved and friendly fellows, Lena and Justin were happy ambassadors for their rodents between shots. We came out of the woods with beautiful and charming photos of their love and devotion - both to one another and their pets.

Rocky Point Fairy Tales by James Mazza

Last Sunday afternoon, betwixt rocky shore and hilly field, I trekked with Amanda and Sarkis to capture the engaged couple in a way that truly represented them. Rocky Point State Park is a favorite hiking spot for them and proved to be a perfect location for photographs. Amanda and Sarkis were wonderfully patient even as the shoot turned involved our own storybook adventures: battling ocean gusts, sinking in marshes, and fighting off insects the size of small birds, we ended up with some incredible images.

Marty's Luck by James Mazza

Back in November when testing out a new telephoto lens, I thought it best to stress test it with our rambunctious ambassador Marty and his best furry buddy Lucky. Somewhere between his balletic canine wresting and preening for the camera, I was able to grab some special moments of our little guy.

Crowded Rooms at Askew by James Mazza

Eleven o’clock? Really? For the headliner? I’m feeling a bit old. On the other hand, it was well worth the wait to hear Crowded Rooms play to a very crowded room. Synth pop-rock in a charismatic live show, leaving the audience at Askew begging for an encore. I want to say the music is Suede via Purity Ring with maybe a bit of early Radiohead? Perhaps I’m listening to too much Britpop lately. Incredible show that Higgs and company were magnanimous in letting me photograph.

Down on the Farm by James Mazza

Taking some time after the retail holidays to work on projects and recoup, I was invited down to the Lamendola’s farm to explore. Sprawling forested grounds sprinkled with amazing bits of history; it was a gorgeous day to recharge the creative batteries and brainstorm an artistic new year! Here are a few images that best capture the spirit of an A24 southern gothic film. No Francos were involved in the making of said movie.

The Light of Luna by James Mazza

This past weekend, a Ravenclaw, a Gryffindor, their beloved Luna, and I wandered the pathways of Francis William Bird Park. Liz and Rob were delightfully welcoming and excited to play with the myriad of opportunities that fall allotted us. Not only was it a beautiful sunny day, but this hidden gem of a park had a wide variety of backdrops for us. Huge thanks to my wife Sarah and Liz’s sister Rachel for helping Luna embrace her inner model!

Welcome... back. by James Mazza

This is a long time coming. The previous iteration of this site was last updated in 2014/2015. Since then I've met my wife, traveled, created, home-owned, and married. With the fulfilling creative experiences I’ve had lately, I decided to modernize my site, upload some more recent work, and more actively engage my artistic side. This is definitely a work-in-progress, and may be a bit rough for the next month or so. I'll be also updating and linking social media platforms again so that as I complete projects, I can share them with those of a morbid curiosity.

Welcome Back.jpg

There are a few concrete projects on the horizon and I have several personal experiments that I hope turn into something unique. So please stay tuned and reach out with comments, critiques and collaborations!
